Job Summary
The Training and Mentorship Coordinator will be integral in coaching and mentoring KCC's teacher-mentors; teacher apprentices; teacher assistant apprentices; GYO trainees; and KCC classroom staff. They will help develop and implement workshops for the "KCC Teacher Training Academy," through which we will provide related instruction to our apprentices. Through increased and targeted training, this staff member will help instructional staff to grow their clinical skills and their teamwork / leadership skills.
Job Responsibilities:
GYO Trainees
- Observe GYO trainees in the classroom and act as liaison with the GYO Workforce Coordinators on teaching skills observed in the classroom
- Supervise GYO trainees through observation and reflective feedback (twice within the 6-week training period)
- Conduct scheduled GYO trainings at multiple training sites
- Review GYO trainee evaluations with classroom teachers
Registered Apprenticeship Program
- Collaborate with teacher-mentors regarding skill development of teacher/teacher assistant apprentices
- Collaborate with the teacher-mentor’s supervisor regarding the teacher-mentor's skills and relationship with their teacher/teacher assistant apprentice(s)
- Report observations/concerns about team dynamics to Curriculum / Clinical Directors as appropriate
- Conduct trainings for Teacher Assistant Academy as coordinated by the Chief Program Officer
- Provide training and support to satellite / partner programs as appropriate
Teacher/Teacher Assistant Mentor
- Teachers and or teacher assistants who may benefit from working with a mentor will be identified by the teacher/teacher assistants supervisor. The supervisor will work with the TMC to identify clearly defined goals and objectives identified for improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Five years of teaching experience
- NYSED Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Special Education
- School Building Leadership Certification, or enrolled in an SBL program
- Strong professional writing and editing skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of comfort with technology. Commonly used systems include Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to speak professionally to internal and external agency relations on a variety of matters
- Team player who enjoys working collaboratively, thinking creatively, and helping colleagues grow
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus, though not required
