We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to join our family-owned Italian grocery and help us provide our customers with top notch customer service. If you’re interested, we would love to hear from you!

The Customer Service Representative contributes to the company’s operation and success by addressing customers’ complaints and requests, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring customers’ needs are met. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong interpersonal skills, patience, and being friendly and courteous.
The Customer Service Representative’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Remaining courteous and helpful to all customers and resolving questions and complaints in a pleasant manner.
- Answering incoming phone calls and giving basic information about store hours and service, resolving customer issues, and providing other appropriate information over the phone as needed.
- Monitoring sales activities and customer transactions to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service.
- Processing refunds and exchanges, sorting damaged products, and returning unwanted items to shelves.
- Managing the register and handling cash, credit/debit, check, and gift card transactions with customers.
- Following store procedures regarding purchase of specialty items such as alcohol and cigarettes.
- Resolving customer complaints and escalating customer concerns to management as necessary.
- Sorting and bagging goods so as not to contaminate other goods and ensure they are safe for transport.
- Reporting all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity (including theft or fraud) to management.
The Customer Service Representative’s work hours vary and will consist of day and evening shifts.
The ideal candidate for the Customer Service Representative position:
- Previous experience in a retail grocery store or as a customer service representative and cashier.
- Availability of a minimum of 30 hours per week (more on holidays).
- Must close 2-3- nights per week.
- Possesses strong customer service and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and can handle customer complaints / issues with diplomacy and tact.
- Possesses basic math skills.
- Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Can relate cordially with customers.
