Job Description:
The Temporary Water System Maintenance Worker (TWSMW) assists with maintenance operations throughout the distribution system. This includes hydrant maintenance and inspection, fire service inspection, valve maintenance, meter routine exchanges/repair, and station inspections. Other duties may include reading commercial and/or residential meters. This position is located in West Lake Village, CA.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform hydrant inspections and maintenance as needed
Perform maintenance on main line valves
Exchange/repair meters throughout the distribution system
Investigate customer inquiries regarding high bills and water quality issues
Diagnose high/low pressure concerns; notify appropriate personnel when needed for repairs or further diagnostics; dirty water, hi/low pressure, no water, taste and odor, air
Take corrective action based on findings
Collect water samples throughout the distribution system as needed
Verify status of existing fire services and read detector meter
Flush mains to a minor extent
Understand cross connections
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent
Must be able to effectively communicate with their supervisor, co-workers, and the public
Ability to perform basic mathematic functions to calculate figures
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Valid California Class C Driver’s license
Must have a working knowledge of basic features of word processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Word) and electronic mail processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Outlook)
Water Distribution Grade 1 or higher preferred
Salary Range: $29.85 - $36.35
