POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Material Handler plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse and yard within our fencing distribution center. This position is responsible for coordinating material handling activities, ensuring accurate inventory management, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The Lead Material Handler will supervise a team of handlers, support shipping and receiving functions, and serve as a key liaison between warehouse operations and management.

Pay: $23-$25 an hr, depending on experience

Schedule: Mon-Friday 7:30 AM-4pm

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the daily activities of material handlers in the warehouse and yard.
• Ensure timely and accurate loading, unloading, staging, and movement of fencing materials.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with cycle counts and reconciliation.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
• Train new team members on proper handling procedures and safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse supervisors, drivers, and sales staff to ensure order accuracy and timely deliveries.
• Assist in resolving discrepancies related to shipments, inventory, or documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
• 1.5+ years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations, preferably in the fencing or building materials industry.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Forklift certification and experience operating heavy equipment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced warehouse and outdoor yard setting.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Requires standing, walking, and physical labor throughout the shift.
