Your Role as a Behavior Manager
- Alignment with Mission and Values - Support and perform job duties in accordance with the established mission and values of Green Tree School and Services, focusing on student achievement models and the school-wide Positive Behavioral Support expectations.
- Therapeutic Intervention - Provide direct, face-to-face therapeutic support to a child or group of children to foster the development of positive social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
- Safety Assurance - Ensure a safe environment through the implementation of proper procedures, notification of appropriate parties for incidents requiring attention, and ongoing evaluation of environmental safety factors.
- Crisis Intervention - Provide crisis support and intervention services when needed.
- Student Development - Develop the strengths and capacities of students and address challenging behaviors.
- Behavioral Management - Aid in implementing alternative activities to redirect challenging behaviors during both crisis situations and routine events, ensuring continuous school safety.
- Professional Ethics - Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards as required.
- Documentation - Complete, update, and maintain incident reports, restraint documentation, behavioral referrals, and other necessary documentation.
- Behavioral Goals Support - Assist teachers and staff in planning and implementing behavioral goals and objectives as outlined in individualized behavior management plans for students.
- Student Assistance - Work with individual students or groups either in the classroom or in separate settings away from the classroom.
- Student Readiness and Supervision - Assist in determining a student’s readiness for returning to regular class and supervise students during arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, and off-campus activities.
- Intervention Strategies - Demonstrate knowledge of and practice intervention strategies for managing behaviors in emotionally stressful and crisis situations.
- Emotional Support - Support, de-escalate, and sometimes restrain highly emotional children.
- Behavioral Data Management - Collect and maintain behavioral data, such as charting, graphing, activity logs, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Special Education, Behavioral Science, or a related field (all degree types considered).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff.
- Active listening and emotional intelligence to support students’ needs.
- Ability to foster a positive, professional school environment with patience and adaptability.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
Preferred (Nice to Have) Qualifications:
- Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) certification.
