Job Description
The Microsoft 365 Engineer II will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for the administration, governance, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 services. This position requires deep expertise in SharePoint Online, Microsoft Purview, and Power Apps to design, manage, and optimize our digital workplace ecosystem. This role requires a highly skilled and motivated individual that will excel at building scalable solutions, enforcing compliance, and driving adoption of collaboration and automation tools across the enterprise.
This position requires both technical mastery and business acumen partnering with stakeholders to deliver secure, compliant, and innovative solutions that enhance productivity, collaboration, and data governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365 services including: SharePoint Online, Purview, Teams, OneDrive, and related collaboration platforms. Deliver Tier 2/3 support, troubleshooting complex issues and serving as an escalation point for enterprise wide M365 challenges. Monitor, analyze, and optimize system health, performance, and compliance posture.
- Architect and maintain enterprise-level SharePoint Online site collections, hubs, and team sites. Define and enforce governance, security, and lifecycle management for content and permissions. Collaborate with business partners to design tailored SharePoint solutions for document management, workflows, and collaboration.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power Apps (canvas and model-driven) to automate and enhance business processes. Implement Power Automate flows for integration, process automation, and cross-system connectivity.
- Mentor and guide business users and 'citizen developers' on low-code/no-code best practices.
- Configure and manage Microsoft Purview solutions including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, eDiscovery, Insider Risk Management, and compliance auditing. Partner with Security & Compliance teams to enforce data governance, retention policies, and regulatory requirements. Monitor and respond to compliance and security alerts, ensuring enterprise-wide protection of sensitive data.
- Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and high-performing technical solutions.
- Stay ahead of the M365 roadmap, proactively recommending and implementing new features and enhancements.
- Occasional after-hours support required for critical deployments or incident response.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3–5+ years of direct experience in Microsoft 365 engineering/administration with proven expertise in SharePoint Online, Power Apps, and Microsoft Purview
- Advanced knowledge of SharePoint Online administration, site architecture, and governance
- Proven experience designing and deploying Power Apps and Power Automate workflows in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Purview compliance and governance tools
- Proficiency in M365 ecosystem integration, security, and governance best practices
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a dynamic environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900)
- Microsoft Power Platform App Maker Associate (PL-100)
- Scripting and automation skills with PowerShell, Python, JSON, HTML, CSS, or similar
- Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API and other integration frameworks
- Knowledge of advanced M365 security and endpoint protection features
