About the Department

The Alaska Mental Health Trust Land Office within the Department of Natural Resources is recruiting for the position of Administrative Assistant (range 14 position). The position is in Anchorage, Alaska, and is offered with a complete State of Alaska benefit package. Final salary will be negotiated at the time of hire and will be based upon the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Role of the Trust Land Office (TLO)
The TLO, part of the Department of Natural Resources, manages nearly one million acres of land and non-cash assets on behalf of the Alaska Mental Health Trust authority. Our mission? Generate revenue to support Alaskans experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, and traumatic brain injuries. What You’ll Do
As a key member of our two-person admin team, you’ll keep the TLO running smoothly by:
- Welcoming visitors and managing front desk operations
- Supporting staff with scheduling, travel, and procurement
- Handling financial tasks like expense and purchase card reconciliations
- Managing office supplies, equipment, and vehicle maintenance
- Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and HR coordination
- Maintaining document systems and ensuring compliance
- Liaising with internal teams and external partners
You’ll also serve as backup for the Executive Assistant when needed.
What We Need You To Bring
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet tools
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Familiarity with State of Alaska systems (IRIS, ALDER, LAS) is preferred
- Experience in land or natural resource management is preferred
- A strong work ethic with reliable attendance and punctuality

Position Duties
You qualify if you have one of the following:
- 6 months of administrative experience (e.g., data entry, purchase card reconciling, HR, accounting, procurement)
- 1 year of post-secondary education
- A combination of education and experience
