 Monday – Friday 8:30-4:30

 

SUMMARY:

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Credentialing Specialist who will be responsible for provider and payer credentialing, credentialing renewals, and staff license tracking. The Credential Specialist will ensure that the provider personnel of the Agency are properly licensed and certified as mandated by state and federal regulations. The Credentialing Specialist will review, verify and maintain individual accreditation and licensure in the Agency’s electronic medical record.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • The Credentialing Specialist will coordinate with the Human Resources department to obtain required licenses and credentialing documents from applicants in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all licenses and credentials are verified and updated timely.
  • Complete relevant credentialing and re-credentialing for providers; submit applications with strict adherence to deadlines, monitors applications, and follow up as needed.
  • Update credentialing databases, CAQH, PECOS, NPPES and provider files as required.
  • Ensure credentialing packets contain all required data and meet data collection standards, within applicable governing regulations.
  • Ensure all credentialing paperwork for licensed staff is filled out properly.
  • Confidentially maintain and ensure the accuracy of all provider credentialing files in accordance with policies and legal requirements.
  • Review, verify, and maintain individual accreditation and licensure in the Agency’s electronic medical records.
  • Provide rosters and reports on credentialing data, delays, and ongoing issues.
  • Identify and implement improvements in policies and procedures in order to improve efficiency in the credentialing process.
  • Stay current on legal and regulatory credentialing requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree and Certification with the National Association Medical Staff Services preferred.

At least two years’ experience with Health/Medical credentialing required, preferably in a behavioral health setting.

Experience with government payer credentialing, along with knowledge of PECOS, NPPES, EPACES and EMEDNY preferred. 

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office; with strong skills in Excel required. 

Experience with EHR required.

Strong communication, both written and verbal, detail orientation, organization, and multi-tasking skills. 

Ability to work independently and as a part of a team environment and interface with all levels of personnel. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires being able to sit for long periods of time.
