Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Senior System Engineer. Our mission supports the Government Corporate Management Services (CMS) by providing full life cycle support services through the sustainment, modernization, and transformation of the enterprise corporate applications. We are seeking a self-motivated and technically capable Associate Engineer to join our team. This role is more System Administrator (SA) focused than Software Engineering (SWE) and will provide support across system administration, security compliance, customer engagement, and electronic records management.

The selected candidate will also support the development and maintenance of Electronic Records Management Services (ERMS)—a modern, secure, and compliant platform for the storage, search, audit, and lifecycle management of both permanent and temporary records in accordance with regulatory guidance. Responsibilities will include working with the Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) records management solution FEITH to ensure reliable system operations, compliance, and customer-facing support..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Microsoft Windows Server 2022+ administration, including troubleshooting, patching (STE/STN), and security compliance (IAVA implementation).

  • Script and automate tasks using PowerShell and Windows CLI (.bat).

  • Manage SQL development and administration tasks using SQL Developer and SQL.

  • Support enterprise tools including Jira, Confluence, and GitLab.

  • Process software requests, install PKI certificates, and perform necessary certificate format transformations.

  • Write, update, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Troubleshoot MS Windows environments, including analysis of Windows Event Logs and application logs.

  • Perform application installation, configuration, updates, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Support static website resources (HTML, CSS) for updates and configuration.

  • Work directly with customers to gather and deliver requirements for reports, forms, and dashboards.

  • Submit and track CHD requests; coordinate with the ISSO for security-related needs such as software versions, CNAME DNS aliases, and SSP server modifications.

  • Participate in planning and execution of monthly and quarterly outages.

  • Support Java web application deployment and configuration (desired skill).

  • Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Read, interpret, and work with various types of engineering diagrams.

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and one (1) year of demonstrable experience is required. Four (4) years of additional technical experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. 
  • An industry recognized professional certification, as defined in the TTOs, may substitute as one (1) year experience.  
  • A Master's Degree in a technical field may substitute for two (2) years' experience. 
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Java, C, Python) 
  • Basic knowledge of web development technologies (HTML, CSS) 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies 
  • Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques 

Desired; 

  • Experience with Java web application deployment and configuration.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills to support customer engagement.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

The estimated salary range for this position is between $130,000-$190,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
