Classification: Exempt 

Reports to: Accounting Manager 

Summary 

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting financial reporting processes. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internal controls.  

Essential Functions/Duties

  1. Preparation and importing of Journal Entries
  2. Balance Sheet Reconciliations including review of accounts for discrepancies and reconciling differences.
  3. Assist with month end close process including preparation and analyzing of financial statements according to GAAP.
  4. Assists with developing financial budgets
  5. Assists with audit request and supporting documents
  6. Preparation of annual tax and business license filings
  7. Backup support for Accounts Receivable Cash Posting
  8. Assist with Accounting Projects when needed

Physical/Cognitive Demands 

 This is largely a sedentary role; however, walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility is required. Position also requires the ability to lift boxes, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression. 

Position Type/Expected Hour of Work 

This is a Full-time position. 

Required Education and Experience 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  2. 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting

Preferred Education and Experience 

  1. CPA and public accounting experience a plus
  2. Prior experience in a manufacturing or sales organization.
  3. Knowledge of Prophet 21 and/or Kinetic ERP systems is a plus
  4. Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Excel
