Paraeducator, Alternative Education, PC #2131 bei Monterey County Office Of Education

Under the general direction of the Principal, the Paraeducator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students who are incarcerated in Juvenile Hall/Youth Center, attending Community Schools or enrolled in independent study programs.

Education and Experience: Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR met a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge or and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children

Desirable Qualifications: Coursework in education, psychology, child development, classroom behavior management and/or Early Childhood Education Experience working with students and implementing behavioral management plans for students Experience in Alternative Education programs Available Pay Stipends: $150 per month incentive for Specialized Health Care Procedures if assigned to specific students and trained by MCOE $500 annual training incentive to employees who are requested and volunteer to participate in training for certification and willingness to administer emergency medications/procedures as defined by contract All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Transcript Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered. This position is grant-funded. The grant is expected to end 6/30/2026
