Paraeducator, Alternative Education, PC #2131 presso Monterey County Office Of Education

Under the general direction of the Principal, the Paraeducator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students who are incarcerated in Juvenile Hall/Youth Center, attending Community Schools or enrolled in independent study programs.

Education and Experience: Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR met a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge or and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children

Desirable Qualifications: Coursework in education, psychology, child development, classroom behavior management and/or Early Childhood Education Experience working with students and implementing behavioral management plans for students Experience in Alternative Education programs Available Pay Stipends: $150 per month incentive for Specialized Health Care Procedures if assigned to specific students and trained by MCOE $500 annual training incentive to employees who are requested and volunteer to participate in training for certification and willingness to administer emergency medications/procedures as defined by contract All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Transcript Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
