Purpose Statement

 

The Accounting Assistant provides ?scal and administrative support to the Business Services Department. The position is responsible for processing, recording, reconciling, and reporting ?nancial information in compliance with district policy, state/federal regulations, and generally accepted accounting practices. This role supports efficient operations by maintaining accurate ?nancial records, assisting staff, and ensuring that resources are used responsibly to support the district’s mission.

 

This position reports to the Accounting Coordinator.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Financial Processing & Analysis

  • Monitor account balances, revenues, and expenditures to ensure accuracy and adherence to budget.
  • Review and analyze ?nancial data to identify variances, ensure compliance with policies, and support budget development.
  • Reconcile ?nancial data (e.g., alio/LINQ, vendor statements, bank records) to maintain accurate account balances.
  • Identify, research and resolve discrepancies of ?nancial information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adhering to established procedures.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare a variety of reports, spreadsheets, and electronic records to document activities and support decision-making.
  • Assist with audits by providing supporting documentation and explaining processes to auditors.
  • Maintain ?nancial ?les, contracts, and records in compliance with district policy and legal requirements.

 

Collaboration & Support

  • Respond to accounting inquiries from district staff by providing guidance and problem resolution.
  • Provide training, orientation and support to staff regarding accounting systems, ?nancial processes and district procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and workshops to enhance knowledge and contribute to department goals.

Continuous Improvement

  • Review processes and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current on changes in accounting practices, district policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the overall mission of Park Hill by ensuring resources are managed effectively and transparently.

Other Functions

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the business services department.

Job Requirements: Minimum Quali?cations

 

Skills

  • Apply district, state, and federal accounting policies and regulations to ?nancial transactions.
  • Operate standard office equipment and accounting software (e.g., alio/LINQ, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Perform accounting procedures including reconciliations, budget tracking, and ?nancial reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate ?nancial records with strong attention to detail.

Knowledge

  • Principles of accounting, bookkeeping, and budget monitoring.
  • Professional communication, grammar, business etiquette, and customer service.
  • District policies, applicable laws, codes, and regulations.

Abilities

  • Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Maintain con?dentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and external partners.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and accountability in ?nancial processes.

Responsibility

  • Work under limited supervision, following standardized practices and procedures.
  • Work impacts the accuracy, timeliness, and transparency of district ?nancial services.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and signi?cant ?ne ?nger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.


Experience & Education

 

Experience: Job-related experience in accounting or bookkeeping required; schooldistrict or public sector accounting experience preferred.

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional college coursework or training in accounting, ?nance, or business preferred.


Additional Requirements

 

Testing: Job-related skills pro?ciency test.
Training: Ongoing professional development as assigned.
Clearances: Criminal justice ?ngerprint/background clearance.
