Description
The Assistant Ranch Manager supports the Facilities Manager in overseeing day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operations of the ranch's infrastructure, equipment, and grounds. This hands-on role assists in coordinating ranch staff, ensuring the property remains clean, functional, and safe, and contributes to the overall care of the ranch facilities, animals, and equipment
Compensation: $68,640.00 annually
Responsibilities:
- Assist in inspecting all ranch facilities and systems to identify maintenance needs
- Perform or coordinate basic maintenance and repairs on waterers, water lines, lighting, HVAC systems, and structural elements
- Maintain arena, round pen, and overall ranch cleanliness, including stall deep cleaning, aisles, hay areas, and equipment storage
- Manage weeding, spraying, trash removal, and fly trap maintenance per ranch procedures
- Ensure all fans, lights, gates, and stalls are properly secured at opening and closing
- Maintain clean and functional ranch vehicles and equipment (truck, golf carts, tractors, etc.)
- Feed horses according to owner instructions (correct type and amount of hay)
- Implement feeding and stall cleaning schedule as directed by the Facilities Manager
- Monitor horses and other animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report concerns immediately.
- Cover hay, clean manure containers, and ensure consistent availability of clean water
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-groomed environment that promotes animal health and safety.
- Be available and willing to safely handle horses when needed
- Mentor, guide, and motivate Ranch Hands to maintain quality and efficiency
- Enforce ranch rules and uphold the standards outlined in boarding agreements and liability releases
- Track and report budgetary items, expenses, and discrepancies related to the Ranch Division
- Generate expense and supply reports as needed
- Monitor and order supplies such as feed, bedding, equipment, and maintenance materials
- Organize and track boarder agreements, applications, and payment records
- Participate in facility projects and special service offerings
- Follow proper safety protocols for equipment use, handling of materials, and emergency procedures
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating, etc).
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules including weekends, evening, and holidays.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, professional conversational skills, and enjoy working with families and patients.
- Proficient in the use of MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage one's own time appropriately.
- Demonstrate the ability to act in a professional manner and maintain competency in a fast-paced work environment.
- Maintain a professional and organized appearance of the department.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry, and move up to 40-50 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to move around the treatment area and facility, including climbing stairs, bending down, and traversing uneven surfaces.
- Ability and willingness to perform repetitive movements, such as reaching, bending, and twisting.
- Ability and willingness to respond quickly and safely to clients' needs and movements during treatment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of physical stamina during full workday.
- Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to unexpected changes and challenges.
- Ability and willingness to work in a standing or seated position for extended periods of time.
