Your Role at KIK

Join our team as a Blow Mold Manager for our union facility, reporting to the General Manager in the managing of the day-to-day operation of the blow molding department where you’ll be the driving force behind seamless operations. Your role involves optimizing workflow, managing personnel, overseeing machinery repairs, and ensuring the efficient use of facilities. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensures efficient workflow and optimizing the utilization of personnel, skills, machines, and equipment for the department

  • Directs all facets of personnel performance, including staffing, training, and discipline within the department

  • Utilizes troubleshooting skills to address equipment issues and provides technical expertise for necessary repairs

  • Direct and expedite machine repairs for the department to the maintenance team while addressing any hindrances to production procedures with the maintenance team.

  • Directs recommendations for capital improvements within the plant, aiming for enhanced safety conditions, improved product quality, increased efficiency, and reduced operational costs.

  • Develops or refines standard operational and working practices, ensuring strict compliance with established standards. This includes oversite for quality in the department.

  • Follows and supports all safety programs

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High school Diploma or GED required

  • 7 or more years of technical leadership in a plastic blow molding and packaging environment required

  • 3 or more years of experience leading a team

  • Strong technical and mechanical background

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred

  • Demonstrates the ability to react swiftly to plant operational problems, showcasing strong problem-solving skills and effective leadership abilities

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Excel (intermediate user-spreadsheet setup, basic formulas, labeling, sorting data, filtering through data, pivot tables) and MS Word.

  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding and utilization of Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, and Continuous Improvement projects. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. This position has a base salary range of $115,000-$125,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.

Essential Job Functions


 

•  Manages blow mold operation to ensure scheduled workflow and use of personnel, skills, machines, and facilities and directs and expedites machine repairs and correction of other problems obstructing production procedures

• Responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation and improvement of blow mold and injection mold and/or downstream equipment and support systems at the facility

• Manages emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance tasks in the Blow Mold Department. Conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) and corrective tasks as assigned.

• Oversees installation, troubleshooting and repair of low and high voltage [single/3 phase] industrial electrical and control systems for Blow Mold Equipment.

• Manages all aspects of personnel performance, staffing, training, and discipline within the department

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with any technical repairs as required

• Report any molds and machines requiring maintenance

• Recommend capital improvements to plant which result directly in improved safety conditions, improved quality of finished product, resulting in value added, improved efficiency, or reduction of plant variable or fixed operations costs.

• Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observes to ensure compliance with standards.

• Resolve operational, manufacturing, and delivery problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar degree preferred or equivalent experience in a Supervisory role.

• Ten years related experience, Plastic blow mold and packaging knowledge is preferred

• 5+ years related blow mold manufacturing experience preferred 

• 5+ years of supervisory experience required

• Strong technical and mechanical background required.

• Must be able to react quickly to plant operational problems

• Strong problem-solving skills and leadership abilities

• Strong computer skills in the use of MS Excel (intermediate user i.e., spreadsheet set up, basic formulas, labeling sorting data, filtering through data, pivot tables) and Microsoft Word

• Must be able to demonstrate clear understanding and utilization of Lean Manufacturing Principles, 5S and Continuous Improvement Projects

 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills.
