Job Summary
This position provides complex analytical and financial support, focused on comprehensive ledger management, including deficit monitoring and detailed monthly payroll ledger review and corrections; chart of accounts maintenance; and detailed student accounting maintenance. The Financial Analyst 3 works closely with the Education Finance Manager and is expected to independently conduct in-depth financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making. Assignments are often given on a project basis and the incumbent is expected to gather and sort information from multiple sources, and to present the finished product in a clear and concise manner with minimal supervision to support high-level decision-making
The Financial Analyst 3 also independently manages student accounting including the accurate and timely submission of student offset and the preparation of quarterly forecast reports. Must be able to demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy, and exercise good judgment within defined procedures and practices, and apply organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Must be able to identify and troubleshoot discrepancies in financial reporting and make corrections as appropriate.
The Financial Analyst 3 creates and maintains projections and other summary reports detailing expenses and revenues of the Education programs. In addition, this position routinely submits financial reports, reviews financial transactions, and provides student enrollment analysis to the Education Finance Manager, Education Programs Directors, Graduate Division, and Controller’s Office. The incumbent monitors and administers faculty teaching effort and other funding sources. Must stay current on campus policies regarding graduate education fees and systems that process and record financial transactions.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $89,600 - $134,400 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum 3+ years of directly relevant experience.
- Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
- Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proficient in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
