Position Summary

The maintenance planner is responsible for planning maintenance PM and WO activities. S/he will provide administrative support to the Sr. Facility Engineering Manager by managing the overall preventative maintenance program, work orders, special projects and general departmental activities. The Sr. Facility Engineering Manager is the primary coach and trainer of the maintenance planner.  S/he is the co-driver of continuous improvement in all areas of the maintenance department.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently or as a team member with minimum supervision.
  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality of all interactions and communications.
  • Comfortable interacting with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness for daily tasks/projects. 
  • Monitor and schedule PM activities through the CMMS, based on due dates and production needs in order to meet the needs of our customers through increased uptime. This will include, but is not limited to, scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Work with production scheduling, maintenance supervisors and operations to schedule needed equipment availability to perform needed PM and work order activities.
  • Act as the system administrator for the plant CMMS ensuring work and parts information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Supervise parts room clerks and help to manage parts kitting for planned work.
  • Establishing spare parts needs for PM and WO activities
  • Facilitate a safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Preventative Maintenance

  • Monitor PM due dates through CMMS to ensure on time completion of PM activities to help drive uptime improvement at both plants
  • Gather information to evaluate current work processes in order to determine the flow of work, time requirements, costs, and duration
  • Develop strategies and programs that improve the productivity and efficiency of the various work processes of the company
  • Formalize PM program including tasks, frequency, time budgets and materials required to ensure product quality and minimize production downtime. Frequently review to make sure the tasks are accurate for the specific equipment.
  • Optimize down days by scheduling PM’s on production days whenever possible
  • Maintain all PM records
  • Order and track parts necessary for PM’s
  • Review completed work orders for proper information and close upon successful review.


Work Orders

  • Generate and close WO
  • Logging WO 
  • Verify resolution and completion of documentation on a timely basis
  • Report WO status on continual basis to operations and maintenance teams

 

Maintenance Department Administration

  • Maintain stock room organization each shift
  • Work within department to maintain a critical parts inventory and maintain accurate levels on a continual basis
  • Assist in other special projects as required to ensure top quality product and Company success
  • Fill in when necessary for Maintenance Shift Supervisor
  • Send reports of PM/WO competition periodically

Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience in similar role, food experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-managed and highly motivated.
  • Possess good problem solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, CMMS (MP2, SAP, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.
  • In-depth SAP preventative maintenance system experience strongly preferred
