POSITION: Administrative Specialist – Office of Student Empowerment
LOCATION: Family Resource and Support Center
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a dedicated and highly organized administrative professional to support the mission and operations of the Office of Student Empowerment. This office oversees student leadership and character development, community-based mentoring, and attendance support initiatives across the district. The Administrative Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of departmental programs and initiatives, maintaining accurate records, supporting communication efforts, and assisting with program logistics and compliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Associate’s Degree in Business, Education, or a related field preferred;
- Experience in an office or administrative support role;
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms);
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.

- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative & Office Support
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Student Support Coordinator and the Office of Student Empowerment team;
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and assist in preparing agendas and meeting notes;
- Maintain accurate departmental records and databases, including student participation, program metrics, and communications;
- Monitor inventory and process orders for program materials and supplies in accordance with district procurement guidelines;
- Assist with the preparation of presentations, reports, and communications for internal and external audiences;
- Serve as a point of contact for phone and email inquiries, ensuring prompt and courteous responses or referrals to appropriate personnel.
Program & Event Coordination - Provide logistical support for student leadership events, mentoring sessions, attendance campaigns, and character development activities;
- Assist in coordinating transportation, facilities, materials, and meals for student-centered events and meetings;
- Support the development and distribution of promotional materials and communication for program recruitment and engagement;
- Coordinate with schools to support implementation and data collection for district-led student empowerment initiatives.
Data Entry, Reporting & Compliance - Track and maintain attendance data for students in mentoring and character development programs;
- Assist in compiling data for quarterly and annual reports to monitor program effectiveness and compliance with grant requirements;
- Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, spreadsheets, and other tools to visualize program impact;
- Verify and submit participation and expenditure documentation for departmental initiatives.
Professional Engagement & Continuous Improvement - Attend training sessions, workshops, and district meetings relevant to student services and administrative processes;
- Stay current on district policies, procedures, and initiatives related to student development and support;
- Contribute ideas to strengthen internal processes, student engagement strategies, and documentation systems.
Other Duties? - Promote a positive departmental image and foster a welcoming atmosphere for students, families, staff, and community partners;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Support Coordinator.
REPORTS TO: Student Support Coordinator
SALARY RANGE: 12 month position - Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, pay grade 13 in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
