Job Description:Position Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer is an integral operational role in Syntegon’s success in leading the world’s packaging technologies. They develop configurable platforms and functions, design custom equipment and create interfaces to third party equipment in order to solve our customer’s application needs. This is a fast pace, dynamic and team-centric work environment that requires self-motivation and independence paired with empowerment to be impactful for the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Design standard and custom orders while meeting customer requirements, cost, and schedule targets. Create drawings, bills of materials and machine specifications.
- Lead and advice on technical aspects of complete packaging system solutions for our customers.
- Responsible for systematic design reviews on customer orders and/or development projects.
- Improve standardization and modularization of our platforms to reduce production and equipment costs and to support sourcing strategies.
- Perform technical calculations in the areas of strength of materials, kinematics, kinetics, heat flow and vacuum flow.
- Identify product- and engineering-process-improvement opportunities, lead and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technology or Automation or similar technical or scientific degree.
- Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience functioning in an Engineering capacity.
- Must have at least 3+ years of experience engineering machinery.
- Must have at least 3+ years of experience working with 3D CAD software.
- Demonstrated innovation mindset with proven success in custom engineered solutions.
- Must be able to travel between 10-20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
- Experience working with food packaging machinery or equipment is strongly preferred.
- Strong solid-modeling and analytic skills, preferably in SolidWorks.
- Proficient knowledge of industrial design standards relevant to automated packaging machinery.
- Knowledge of hygienic design as it relates to equipment going into the food industry.
- Demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously while accepting changing priorities and deadlines.
- Possess a strong customer service focus.
The anticipated base salary for this position starts at $92,000 per year.
Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
