Position Overview:The SiteOne Product Data team is seeking a Product Data Analyst with a strong background in horticultural nomenclature and nursery operations. This role is designed for a candidate who not only understands data governance and digital systems but also brings a deep knowledge of plant materials and nursery practices. The Product Data Analyst will support Category Management, Digital E-Commerce, Marketing, and Supply Chain by ensuring SiteOne’s plant and product data is accurate, standardized, and optimized for customer and business needs. This position will be key in driving data integrity across our nursery portfolio—helping us deliver best-in-class plant information to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the accuracy of product taxonomy, botanical nomenclature, plant attributes, and data integrity across all nursery product records.
- Ensure complete and accurate plant and product data is collected from suppliers, growers, and industry resources.
- Conduct data profiling and plant attribute analysis to measure completeness and consistency of nursery data.
- Serve as the primary point of data collection and entry for nursery products, with emphasis on standardized botanical names, growth habits, sizes, and cultural attributes.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to troubleshoot nursery data issues and ensure proper mapping.
- Identify opportunities for data governance improvements and recommend best practices for handling plant data and digital assets.
- Analyze trends and themes in nursery product data to support category strategy and customer needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including plant attribute standards, taxonomy updates, and nursery data guides.
- Prepare and present periodic progress reports to stakeholders.
- Recommend and implement continuous process improvements to enhance plant data accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of horticultural nomenclature and plant taxonomy, with the ability to validate and correct botanical names, synonyms, and cultivar designations.
- Practical nursery operations experience, with working knowledge of container sizes, plant forms, and growing practices.
- Familiarity with plant data standards (e.g., growth rate, sun exposure, soil preference, hardiness zones, and tolerance attributes).
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills with ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Analytical mindset with proven problem-solving capabilities and excellent customer service orientation.
- Ability to thrive in a complex, rapidly changing environment while adhering to tight schedules.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; SQL/data analysis skills preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interpret plant data and present findings to non-technical audiences.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and build relationships with vendors and team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in nursery operations, horticulture, or plant data management.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered.
