DLR Group has an opening for a National Business Development Leader within our Transportation Sector. DLR Group has a network of 30+ studios across the United States.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated National Business Development Leader to drive growth our Transportation sector across the United States. This role is ideal for someone who excels at identifying decision-makers and building lasting relationships while collaborating with a talented team of designers.
The ideal candidate is socially fearless, entrepreneurial, and ready to lead initiatives to uncover new opportunities, while also nurturing existing client relationships alongside the Transportation Leader and Client Leaders across the firm. The successful candidate will
- Will identify, cultivate and execute Business Development on their strategic client targets.
- Lead BD by example – always being active within the market nationally, growing client relationships, and winning work with key clients, large “Fortune 500” or “National” type companies.
- Proactively develop a protocol for managing national clients, coordinate, support and track all business development activities in their sector, while ensuring Business Development is being executed on their own pursuits as well their team.
- Be a strategic counselor to the Transportation Global Sector Leader and are expected to have their finger on the business development pulse of the sector nationally and thus be a mentor and daily resource for all BD staff within their sector.
- Engage the Regional Sector Leader, BD Leaders and Region Leader in a “Group First” approach by ensuring key relationships are leveraged and assigned to proper regional BD Leaders to achieve maximum ROI.
- Proactively and collaboratively assist regional BD Leaders with the development of Business Development strategic plans to win work and prioritize national pursuits in their sector via leading regular national sector BD coordination calls and personal communication.
- Provide consistent communications regarding sector BD performance, personnel needs or concerns and overall strategic BD direction of the sector.
- Be an active participant on the Sector’s Forum
- Create a dynamic, positive and effective Business Development team culture in their Sector.
- Collaborate with CMO, Region Leader, NBDL Forum Representative and RSL’s to identify, review, interview, on‐board and train new staff for BD positions in the assigned sector.
- Be an active participant on the NBDL team and help leverage cross sector opportunities.
Marketing
- Attend and coordinate industry conferences, handling logistics, registrations, and collateral.
- Prepare quarterly marketing reports, lead weekly strategy meetings, and maintain CRM and BD Tracking Report.
- Coordinate with teams for RFQ/P responses, review proposals, and assist with interview logistics, attending as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (A/E/C related degree preferred)
- 10+ years of relevant business development experience and/or sales experience within A/E/C industry in the Las Vegas market.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience utilizing CRM software
- Involvement in community industry organizations
- Strong oral, written communication, meeting facilitation, and presentation skills
- Strategic Leadership - Creates, leads, nurtures, builds, activates and manages mutually beneficial relationships internally and externally resulting in design commission fees.
- Interpersonal Communications - Must be able to convey ideas, concerns, challenges, and opportunities via strong written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze and improve materials written by others.
- Organizational & Collaborative Skills: Excellent at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks efficiently; comfortable in both leadership and team-player roles with diverse personalities.
- Self-Starter & Knowledgeable - Motivated to win and takes the initiative to solve problems.
- Works without close supervision
