Human Resources (HR) Specialist
Reports To: HR Business Partner
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Entry-Level HR Specialist to join our team at Hooverwood Living. We provide quality care to our residents. This role is ideal for someone beginning their HR career and eager to learn and grow in a mission-driven environment. You’ll support core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee support, and administrative tasks, helping to ensure a positive experience for our staff.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with posting job openings, reviewing applications, and coordinating interviews.
· Support recruitment process and assists with new employee orientation
· Completes all I-9 and E-Verify eligibility for new hires and inputting them into HRIS system.
· Maintain accurate employee personnel files, state files and assist with data entry in HR systems.
· Respond to basic employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and procedures.
· Assist with tracking compliance requirements such as licensure.
· Support HR team with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and reporting.
· Learn and apply HR policies and procedures in alignment with nonprofit and LTC state and federal regulations.
· Prepares verification of employment letters for employees
· Support leadership team with PTO requests, evaluations, pay changes, position changes and employee engagement initiatives.
· Serves as back-up to payroll manager
· Assist employees with Workers Compensation claims and FMLA paperwork
· Other duties as assigned by HR department

Requirements
Qualifications:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Strong interest in HR and willingness to learn.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
· Internship or volunteer experience in HR, healthcare, or nonprofit settings.
· Familiarity with HRIS systems or willingness to learn.
