ACEC is seeking a hands-on, data-savvy Director of Data Management to help unlock the full potential of ACEC’s member and engagement data. This new role will take the lead on managing and leveraging the organization’s evolving database infrastructure—with a focus on translating data into actionable insights that support member engagement, strategic outreach, and non-dues revenue growth.

The Director of Data Management will work in close partnership with ACEC’s external database consultant team (who manage coding and development), serving as the internal lead for data integrity, usage, and insight generation.  This person will proactively monitor participation patterns, flag emerging trends, and recommend ways to target prospects and re-engage members through smarter, data-informed campaigns.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting the dots across systems, finding the story in the data, and collaborating across teams to turn information into impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as ACEC’s internal lead for data strategy—ensuring information is clean, accessible, and leveraged to support strategic goals across departments.
  • Proactively analyze member and event participation trends to surface actionable insights that inform marketing, education, and member engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify key audience segments, behavioral triggers, and engagement opportunities that can be used to drive non-dues revenue.
  • Use data to flag declining engagement and suggest appropriate follow-up actions to support retention.
  • Partner with the Director of Membership Recruitment to develop prospecting tools and dashboards that help target “ideal members” and enable personalized outreach by ACEC and Member Organizations.
  • Build and maintain queries and reports that provide departments with self-service visibility into the metrics that matter.
  • Serve as the primary internal liaison to ACEC’s database consultants—translating user needs into technical requirements and helping coordinate testing and feedback.
  • Lead ongoing data hygiene, deduplication, and quality control efforts to ensure confidence in reporting and outreach.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity partners to ensure data is protected and managed in compliance with best practices.
  • Document processes and protocols to support staff training and continuity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, marketing analytics, or a related field; certifications in tools like SQL or Tableau are a plus.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in data analytics, CRM management, or data strategy, ideally in a membership-based or nonprofit environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data, spot patterns, and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Experience with CRM and AMS platforms; familiarity with NetForum is a strong advantage.
  • Strong query/report-building skills and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data governance, hygiene, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Familiarity with the A/E/C or professional association world is helpful but not required.
