Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is a strategic contributor to supply chain operations, responsible for analyzing, planning, and coordinating inbound and outbound logistics to ensure service reliability and cost efficiency. This role exercises discretion and independent judgment in carrier selection, freight negotiations, ERP system integrity, and process improvement initiatives. The coordinator serves as a key liaison between procurement, production, warehouse leadership, and external logistics partners, ensuring operational alignment and business continuity.
This position requires the ability to evaluate complex logistics scenarios, make independent decisions on carrier routing and scheduling, and recommend improvements to optimize cost, service, and compliance. The Logistics Coordinator also plays a leading role in SOP development, audit readiness, and cross-functional projects, supporting the company’s overall supply chain strategy.
Success in this role requires a strong ability to think critically, anticipate risks, and implement proactive solutions. The Logistics Coordinator operates with a high degree of autonomy, providing recommendations that shape operational practices, improve customer satisfaction, and reduce logistics costs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Core Logistics Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate, select, and negotiate with carriers to ensure best combination of cost, service, and compliance
- Analyze shipping schedules and initiate adjustments to balance production capabilities, customer deadlines, and cost objectives.
- Create and maintain import/ export compliance documentation, ensuring adherence to DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations
- Provide strategic communication to customers regarding shipping confirmations, escalations, and issue resolution.
ERP and Inventory Optimization
- Ensure ERP transactions and reporting integrity by proactively analyzing system accuracy and implementing corrective actions
- Collaborate with warehouse and material planning teams to align inventory strategy with demand forecasts and supply planning.
- KPI ownership in the areas of Asset compliance, Inventory accuracy, and System performance of Unrestricted warehouses.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
- Lead logistics-related continuous improvement projects with cross-functional stakeholders to drive cost savings and service reliability.
- Own and maintain SOPs for logistics workflows, ensuring they reflect best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions, providing logistics insights to support process improvement and Supply Chain scalability.
- Oversee management of transportation and storage assets (isotainers, chassis, tanks), ensuring optimal utilization and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or related field preferred (Associates required)
- 3+ years in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation Management, with demonstrated experience in decision making and process ownership
- Proven ability to analyze data, negotiate rates, and implement cost-saving measures
- Hazmat Shipping Certification required within 90 days of employment (Hazmat experience preferred)
- ERP/MRP/TMS proficiency (Datacor or SAP equivalent) with ability to design, evaluate, and implement process improvements.
- Proficient use of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
