Senior QA & Food Safety Manager
This position is responsible for the daily and strategic operations of the quality assurance department, food safety practices, quality standards, customer QA and R&D contact and staff. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Evaluate performance data and reports to look for trends and/or issues and bring to the attention of all management so that it can be addressed.
· Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet the required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
· Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
· Communicate, direct training and enforce food safety practices, procedures, and specifications to QA team and company team members.
· Provides detailed feedback to customers and suppliers as needed/required including written and oral.
· Participate and coordinate product testing processes.
· Enforce proper FSQA standards across the facility.
· Recommend and facilitate solutions to departmental issues.
· Ensure products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability.
· Maintain compliance with federal, state, Company and local regulations, guidelines, and policies.
· Interact with other management as part of the team providing insight, recommendations and counsel relating to quality and food safety.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Assist in the selection of new employees.
· Oversee new employee training and continued performance monitoring.
· Schedule and oversee the daily workflow of the quality assurance staff.
· Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
· Complete or insure performance evaluations are timely and constructive.
· Monitor department expenditures and overtime as needed. Implement corrective actions as needed.
· Ensure that all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
· Assist in the quality training and certification process.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities/Certification

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products and using a computer keyboard

· Must have the ability to perform in all positions within the department.
· Must have RTE experience and be able to develop, execute and manage programs that support this process.
· HACCP Certification required. Must have experience with developing a HACCP plan for RTE products.
· Has managed and established programs that comply with the GFSI (BRC) audit process.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in food science, animal science or related field required.
· Has managed and established programs that comply with the GFSI (BRC) audit process.
· Five years of experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or related field including working with Quick service or Casual dining products.
· Two years of supervisory/management experience required.
· Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements, however under the discretion of SSI management.
Physical Requirements
· Regular periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping in a refrigerated environment.
· Able to occasionally move and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
· Ability to move in, around and under equipment.
· Work in a refrigerated environment with limited exposure to freezer conditions.
