Role:   The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading the resort’s sales strategy to drive revenue growth across all market segments, including leisure, group, corporate, and event business. This executive role oversees the sales team, develops strategic partnerships, and ensures alignment with the resort’s brand and financial goals. Adheres to all Company, safety and departmental policies and procedures.  Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service.  Anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.


SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Strong background in hospitality sales, preferably in luxury or resort environments
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent selling skills and understanding of sales processes
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications
  • Strong customer and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect department
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems including CI/TY

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in hospitality, preferably in luxury or resort settings.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets and leading successful teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License

 

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:  Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with resort objectives.
  • Identify new market opportunities and revenue streams.
  • Lead long-term planning for sales growth and market expansion.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Set and monitor KPIs, sales targets, and performance metrics.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Revenue Generation

  • Oversee group bookings, corporate accounts, travel agency partnerships, and event sales.
  • Collaborate with revenue management and marketing to optimize pricing and promotions.
  • Drive upselling and cross-selling initiatives across departments.

Client Relations

  • Cultivate relationships with key clients, travel professionals, and industry partners.
  • Represent the resort at trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
  • Ensure exceptional client service and satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Analyze sales data and market trends to forecast revenue and adjust strategies.
  • Provide regular reports to executive leadership on performance and projections.
  • Monitor competitor activity and adjust tactics accordingly.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, food & beverage, and event teams to ensure guest satisfaction and seamless execution.
  • Align sales efforts with brand positioning, guest experience, and resort-wide initiatives.

Technology & Innovation

  • Leverage CRM systems, data analytics, and digital tools to enhance sales performance.
  • Identify and implement new technologies to streamline sales processes and improve client engagement.

Budgeting & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the sales department budget.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximize ROI on sales initiatives.

Training & Development

  • Design and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Stay current on industry trends and ensure the team is equipped with up-to-date knowledge and skills.

Sustainability & Social Responsibility

  • Integrate sustainability goals into sales strategies, including promoting eco-friendly packages and green meeting options.
  • Collaborate with marketing to highlight the resort’s environmental initiatives in sales materials.
  • Educate clients and partners on the resort’s sustainability practices and encourage participation.
  • Support partnerships with organizations focused on environmental stewardship and responsible tourism.
  • Track and report on sustainability-related KPIs tied to sales activities (e.g., carbon offset programs, waste reduction in events).

Work is performed in an office environment and in other locations throughout the property, including outside.  Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.  A casino environment typically allows smoking.

  • Interacts with management, applicants, fellow Associates and/or guests.

  • Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS) and other instructions 
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and always requires to use personal protective equipment (PPE)
