DoIT is working to fill one (1) full-time vacancy as a Network Technician I. As a Network Technician I, you will join DoIT’s support team directly assigned to the Office of the Public Defender. This branch supports a large and diverse department with multiple office locations and remote staff, requiring flexibility, confidentiality, and professionalism. Your role will include providing desktop support across sites, assisting remote users, and collaborating with Network Administrators on projects. The position calls for strong technical skills, clear communication, and the ability to adapt to the sensitive nature of the work environment while ensuring reliable IT services for attorneys, investigators, and staff.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months and may also be used for countywide openings.
Minimum Qualifications
License Requirement: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.
Any combination of education, experience, and certifications that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education: Possession of an Associate's of Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science or information processing OR completion of 24 semester units or 36 quarter units in computer science or information systems
Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience performing computer and network systems equipment installation duties.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) or other similar credentials.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or related certifications.
- Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies
- Programming Skills: Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Security Frameworks: Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS to ensure comprehensive security measures.
- Vendor Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Tanium Certified Operator, vendor-specific certifications, Tesira Certifications, Crestron Certifications, Dante Digital Audio Certification Levels 1 – 3.
- Audio Visual Expertise: Deep experience in designing, supporting, and innovating audio-visual equipment or spaces. Including both indoor meeting spaces and outdoor events.
Other Qualifications
- Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
- Training and Experience Questionnaire: Candidates will be required to complete a training and experience questionnaire at the time of filing. The responses to the training and experience questions on the supplemental questionnaire will be used to evaluate candidates' relevant education, training and/or experience as it relates to the Network Technician I Classification. (Weighted 100%)
- Final Selection Interviews: Will be scheduled by the department once the eligible list is established.
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
