The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading the HR function to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains a high-performing workforce. This role oversees all aspects of HR operations, including talent acquisition, employee experience, compensation and benefits, performance management, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. As a trusted partner to leadership and employees alike, the Director provides both strategic guidance and hands-on support to foster a positive workplace culture and align people practices with the organization’s mission and goals. Responsibilities include:
- HR Strategy and Leadership: Provide vision and leadership for HR operations, balancing day-to-day needs with long-term workforce strategy. Partner with the CHRO and other members of the leadership team to align HR practices with organizational priorities.
- Talent Acquisition and Retention: Oversee recruitment and selection processes to attract top talent across all levels of the organization. Ensure effective onboarding, retention strategies, and career development programs that strengthen employee engagement and reduce turnover.
- Employee Relations and Experience: Serve as a trusted advisor and problem-solver for managers and employees. Promote open communication, resolve employee concerns fairly, and create initiatives that support morale, productivity, and a positive workplace experience.
- Compensation, Benefits and Performance Management: Develop and administer competitive compensation structures, benefits programs, and recognition strategies. Lead the performance review process, ensuring it supports accountability, growth, and continuous feedback.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure HR policies, practices, and programs comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Monitor employment practices for fairness and consistency while mitigating risk through proactive compliance oversight.
- HR Operations and Technology: Manage the HRIS and leverage data to produce reports and insights that inform organizational decisions. Streamline HR processes and workflows to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Change Management and Organizational Development: Support leaders and employees through organizational changes by providing clear communication, training, and tools that encourage adaptability and resilience.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop HR staff, fostering a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement within the HR function.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within healthcare or a similarly complex and regulated environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and HR data analytics. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
- Solutions-oriented and able to navigate complex employee relations and organizational challenges.
- Highly adaptable, resilient, and comfortable balancing strategic priorities with hands-on responsibilities.
- Skilled at handling confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to use data to drive decisions and improvements.
