ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Clinical Programs – Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic

Classification: Class Code 1615 / Level 1 / Non-Exempt / 0.25 FTE / Fully Remote

Anticipated hiring range: $26-$28/HR, commensurate with qualifications, location and experience

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties pertaining to the operation of the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. The position is part of UC Law SF’s Community Justice Clinics and reports to the Director of the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Communicate effectively, professionally, and timely, over the phone and email, with potential and actual clients.
  • Manage and organize mail and other records
  • Maintain confidentiality of such information.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with administrative support
  • Prior legal office experience preferred but not necessary
  • No prior experience or knowledge with tax matters is necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency creating, editing and utilizing spreadsheets, data bases, and data entry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Eagerness to work with the low-income community, and effective, pleasant and professional oral and written communication to a diverse population.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, exercise initiative, and apply sound judgment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Must be comfortable effectively executing numerous projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred but not necessary
  • Must be able to perform duties within the 10 AM – 6 PM PST timeframe on Mondays through Thursdays with hours spread out over two-to-three days
