SUMMARY
General Description: The Education and Talent Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the Chief of Education and Intern Development in developing and executing tasks that support of the overall strategic plan and direction of the Education department. Specifically, the ETDS will be tasked with policy development, talent management, performance management, training and development, and recruitment. The ETDS supports strategic leadership by articulating the needs of the program and plans to both the workforce and various institutions with which VSA is continuously building partnerships.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides direct support to the CEID and serves in their absence when required
- Participates in the planning, coordination, and implementation of short-term and long-term operational goals and objectives for Education Department’s operations
- Works with management team to assist in the implementation of strategies designed to achieve short-term and long-term goals and objectives outlined in the Strategic Education Plan
- Provides technical support and information regarding Department activities and participates in the formulation of policies, procedures, and programs; advises on trends or challenges and assist with the determination of the most effective courses of action.
- Compiles onboarding documents necessary for the organization and success of new interns as they join our team throughout the year. This includes the gathering and compiling of materials that managers request interns be given in advance of their start date. Collaborates with managers directly when necessary to determine what information needs to be given to interns in advance, as this will vary by department.
- Supports CEID regarding key organizational and management issues.
- Helps CEID develop comprehensive recruiting plans for Interns.
- Participates in the departmental budget development, including use of general and special funds; participates in the oversight of internal and external audits to ensure the Education Department’s operations are performed in accordance with best practices, policy and fiscal local, state and federal laws, or any grant requirements that might apply.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the VSA Initiative by developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Strategic Education Plan.
- Accompanies CEID to job fairs, schools, and special events to provide support for Intern recruiting; discusses benefits of opportunities with VSA and follows up with interested applicants
- Remains an active and enthusiastic participant in the building of the Education Department and its programs for students and other visitors to VSA
- Participates in data gathering and preparation process for presentations to Board, management, employees, the general public, etc.
- Performs related duties as assigned in support of the Educational programs.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
General Education:
College: Bachelor’s Degree | Major: General |
Job-Related Experience: Direct experience in aerospace or industrial organizations preferred. Experience working and/or familiarity with Authorities or other governmental entities, including military experience preferred. At least 7 years of applicable experience may substitute for education requirements.
Certifications: None
Licenses, etc.: Valid driver's license is necessary when operating a vehicle while on agency business.
