About Forge

At Forge Biologics, we believe in turning bold ideas into life-changing realities. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to enable access to life-changing gene therapies and help bring them from idea into reality. We partner with scientists, physicians, biotech and pharma innovators, and patient communities — all united by one goal: improving lives. If you’re driven by purpose and excited to make a tangible impact, this is where your journey begins.

Our team works out of The Hearth, a state-of-the-art, 200,000-square-foot cGMP facility in Columbus, Ohio. Here, you won’t just watch innovation happen — you’ll be part of it. Whether you’re scaling AAV manufacturing, collaborating on cutting-edge therapies, or supporting complex technical projects, you’ll play a key role in bringing hope to patients with genetic diseases.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join the Technology Services team to support our state-of-the-art gene therapy manufacturing facility in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, you'll be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure and pipelines that support enterprise-wide analytics, reporting, and decision-making.

As we advance our data platform capabilities, you will also have the opportunity to support the adoption and implementation of Microsoft Fabric. While prior experience with Microsoft Fabric is not required, familiarity with modern data platforms and a willingness to learn are strongly valued.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from a variety of sources.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and cross-functional teams to optimize data workflows and ensure quality, security, and governance.
  • Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources (e.g., databases, APIs, data warehouses).
  • Apply data transformation techniques, including cleansing, enrichment, aggregation, and filtering.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of data processing systems, identifying bottlenecks and applying performance tuning strategies.
  • Conduct data validation and implement quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness across the pipeline.
  • Support the ongoing development and implementation of cloud-based data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric and similar technologies.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration, data modeling, or related fields.
  • Ability to develop scalable, high-performing data pipelines that support AI, ML, and BI applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++, and tools like SQL, R, SAS, or Excel.
  • Experience working with modern data architectures, including cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake (Fabric experience preferred but not required).
  • Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop).
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with an ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with a track record of resolving complex data issues.
  • Ability to work onsite (in Columbus, Ohio) 1 week/month is strongly preferred.
