We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will continue the thriving demand response programs and help CPower maintain its role as a leader in the energy management industry.

This is a hybrid position with the employee working remotely and at our office in Baltimore, MD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support accounts payable process, including invoice approval, batch review and posting.
  • Monitor treasury, positive pay exceptions and coordinate and resolve issues that may arise with the bank.
  • Maintain control of check stock and ACH initiation to process third party vendor and customer payments.
  • Prepare and/or review asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries and related reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of operating expenses by verifying and reconciling transactions, resolving discrepancies, and identifying variance drivers from budget and/or prior forecast.
  • Lead operating expense review sessions and develop related forecasts.
  • Contribute to the month-end financial close in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare high quality, accurate, and timely reporting packages.
  • Fulfill ad hoc requests and provide input on projects, timely and accurately respond to inquiries.
  • Contribute to annual financial audit and budget processes.
  • Maintain ethical and professional business practices in day-to-day activities.
  • Exhibit flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • CPA preferred. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong decision making, flexibility, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of competency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, principles, practices and regulations.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage workload including multiple deadlines and deliverables.
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains ERP system and OneStream preferred.
