We are seeking a Publishing Sales Representative to join our team.  This position is responsible for components that will contribute to the success of the ASME Digital Collection and Publishing Sales efforts.   You will work closely with specific client and prospective client accounts to meet or exceed revenue goals for a defined territory. The role involves a wide range of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, covering all aspects of the publishing business.   This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a proven track record of driving results.

Principal responsibilities include:

  • Develop strategies and business plans to influence business to increase sales of ASME’s products to their customer base within an assigned geography. This includes working across the channel partners and managing direct accounts as appropriate.
  • Take ownership of assigned markets by leading the strategic plan to grow revenue with assigned territory.  
  • Lead the efforts with internal departments including Product, Marketing, and Finance to develop and execute strategies and business plans to grow revenue.
  • Work with Finance and Sales leadership to create budgets and forecasts for the territory.   
  • Maintain and revise budgets on a regular basis and present to senior leadership at Monthly Business Review Meetings.  
  • Keep an accurate database of all sales opportunities in Salesforce.com, update account records, and contacts, and track all sales activity daily.
  • Develop a network of contacts and influencers at each reseller, ensuring regular communication. Collaborate with resellers to meet frequently with end-user customers and build relationships with key customers.
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers and secure renewals for direct buy clients. 
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and grow revenue with these clients, presenting suitable ASME solutions.
  • Develop an expert level of understanding of all ASME products and service lines and serve as a subject matter expert to your customer base.  
  • Regularly gather and share market data and intelligence on products and customers with other ASME internal departments such as Product, Marketing, and User Experience. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or additional equivalent work experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in publishing sales.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Salesforce 
  • Customer focused, with effective interpersonal and communication (oral & written) skills.
  • Proven experience managing accounts and growing revenue in a defined territory.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a collaborative environment
  • Prior experience as a consultative sales representative in the publishing industry a plus.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $73,000 - $94,000 per year.
