Position OverviewDirects and coordinates the daily activities of the Fleet Maintenance Division within the Resource Recovery and Reuse Department (RR&R). Provides strategic leadership, technical expertise, and oversight of resources and budgets to ensure the effective development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Metro’s Fleet Maintenance Program. Supports regulatory compliance and operational performance while fostering a collaborative, results-oriented work environment focused on service quality and efficiency. Works under the general direction of the Director of RR&R and is responsible for supervising the staff in the Fleet Maintenance Division.
Position Duties
- Responsible for the administration and planning of the Fleet Maintenance Division activities at Metro. Assigns, directs and supervises the work of supervisors and planners assigned in the RR&R Fleet Maintenance division. Participate in the hiring process, prepare/conduct/review performance evaluations, provide coaching and mentoring as needed, and provide support for disciplinary action as needed.
- Develops, recommends and implements a planned maintenance program which includes preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance and the use of Metro’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as a key tool in managing maintenance activities.
- Evaluates reliability of facilities and equipment and identifies opportunities to increase efficiencies within the Fleet Maintenance Division. Implements and coordinates programs to develop, design, and execute modifications and improvements.
- Ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Responsible for working with outside vendors to develop specifications for equipment and contracted services, ensuring high-quality standards. Oversees contract administration and monitors vendor performance.
- Advises the Director of RR&R of critical and continuing problems in the maintenance of METROGRO Farm assets and equipment.
- Coordinates, directs, and oversees vehicle, equipment and facility maintenance work on the METROGRO Farm or at the RWHTF or NTP completed by RR&R Maintenance staff, outside contractors, and personnel from other departments. May serve as departmental coordinator for Engineering Department projects.
- Collaborates with other Metro Departments to improve performance, reliability, capacity, efficiency, or safety of Metro’s passenger vehicles.
- May represent the department in the absence of the Director of RR&R. Attends meetings, interacts with staff, legal counsel, outside consultants, the general public, and regulatory agencies.
- Develops and recommends plans, programs, and budgets for the Fleet Maintenance Division.
- Authorizes and approves requisitions and expenditures for resources in accordance with delegated spending authority from the Director of RR&R.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance
- Applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., DOT)
- Budget development, fiscal accountability, and resource management
- General administrative procedures and reporting protocols
- Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management software (CMMS)
- Effectively contributing to successful maintenance operations in mechanical, electrical, transportation or logistic fields

Bachelor's degree in fleet management, business management, logistics, engineering or related field. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
