 What We're Looking For 

RuffleButts is looking to add an Sr. Site Merchandiser for our website RuffleButts.com who is responsible for day-to-day site management, merchandising and revenue growth. 

This person will work with eCommerce, Merchandising and Marketing Managers to optimize and merchandise the website to drive sales, conversion, order value and units per transaction. You must be innovative, naturally question the status quo and enjoy tirelessly advocating for our customers in pursuit of the best customer experience. 


 To Summarize, You Will 


Product Merchandising & Presentation

  • Oversee the online merchandising of all product categories, ensuring seamless customer experience.
  • Optimize product placement, sorting, and categorization to maximize sales, conversion, AOV.
  • Ensure all product pages have accurate, compelling descriptions, consistent imagery, relevant customer-facing content and SEO-friendly content.
  • Work closely with the marketing and creative teams to align product visuals and copy with brand messaging

New Launches, Promotions & Seasonal Campaigns

  • Plan and execute site-wide promotions, seasonal campaigns, and product launches in collaboration with the merchandising, creative and marketing team. One Voice Concept
  • Set up promotional banners throughout the site, featured collections, and homepage updates to highlight brand messaging.
  • Monitor campaign performance and adjust merchandising strategies based on analytics.

 Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) & Site Performance

  • Analyze customer behavior in New GA Suite of Analytics Reports, heatmaps, and A/B test results to optimize the site layout and user journey.
  • Implement best practices for upselling, cross-selling, and bundling products to increase AOV (Average Order Value) though competitive analysis.
  • Ensure fast load times and mobile-friendly experiences to improve conversion rates through recommendations on site product grouping.

Data Analysis & Performance Reporting

  •  Track and analyze sales performance by category, product, and promotional campaigns.
  • Monitor key metrics such as conversion rates, bounce rates, click-through rates, and cart abandonment.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership to guide merchandising decisions.

Collaboration & Cross-functional Support

  • Work closely with marketing, design, inventory, and customer service teams to align merchandising strategies.
  • Coordinate with SEO specialists to optimize product pages for organic traffic.
  • Provide insights and feedback to the development team for site improvements.

Competitor Benchmarking & Insights:

  • Research competitors’ product listings and pricing strategies.
  • Identify gaps in product descriptions or features compared to competitors and suggest improvements.

Product Enhancement & Optimization:

  • Monitor top-performing and low-performing SKUs to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Work with the Creative team to improve product images, adding lifestyle images, UCGs or video content used in Marketing. 
  • Remove discontinued or out-of-stock items from high-visibility placements and recommend alternative products.
  • Focus on PDP enhancements to drive basket through, pairs well with, family matching and the new Family Landing Page, FLP (new creation), PDP 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Success Metrics


To measure the effectiveness of the Site Merchandiser, the following trend based KPIs will be tracked:


Sales & Revenue Metrics

  • Product Category Sales Performance: Growth in revenue per category compared to Plan, trending and LY.
  • Average Order Value (AOV): Increase in AOV through effective merchandising and bundling.
  • Sales Contribution by Featured Products: % of revenue generated from promoted/featured items. 


Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Metrics

  • Conversion Rate (CR): % of site visitors complete a purchase.
  • Bounce Rate: % of visitors leaving without engaging (lower is better).
  • Cart Abandonment Rate: % of users who leave before completing a purchase.

Campaign & Promotional Effectiveness

  • Promo Conversion Rate: % of users who purchase after engaging with a promotion.
  • Discount Impact on Margins: Balance between promotional uplift, new merchandise launches with sales and profitability.
  • New vs. Returning Customer Revenue: Growth in new customer acquisition vs. repeat purchases and their shopping behavior

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years as a site merchandiser in apparel category within a specialty retailer/consumer goods brand.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, experience using data to develop and measure campaigns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and successfully manage internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with customer segmentation and targeting.
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in retail math
  • Full understanding of merchandising KPIs and ability to translate and connect to web analytics.
  • Strong understanding and passion for websites, UI and Visual Site 
  • Ability to execute projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. 
  • Preference given to experience with buying or planning organizations.
