POSITION SUMMARY:
The Planned Giving Associate plays a critical dual role within Union Rescue Mission’s Philanthropy team by providing high-level administrative support to the Director of Planned Giving while actively training to become a Planned Giving Officer. This position manages core operational and marketing functions of the planned giving program, while participating in a structured development path to gain knowledge in legacy giving, donor engagement, and estate planning strategies. The role offers a unique opportunity to grow into a frontline fundraising position while supporting a mission-centered team dedicated to transforming lives through Christ-centered service.

PLANNED GIVING ASSOCIATE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administrative & Program Support:
- Provide executive-level administrative support to the Director of Planned Giving.
- Oversee scheduling, calendar management, travel coordination, and meeting preparation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and prospect records in the CRM database.
- Assist in tracking gift intentions and managing documentation and financial records.
- Handle sensitive donor and financial information with utmost discretion and professionalism.
Marketing & Event Coordination:
- Support the implementation of strategic marketing campaigns for planned giving.
- Work with the marketing team to develop digital and print materials, including brochures, web content, and newsletters.
- Help coordinate logistics for planned giving seminars, donor workshops, and Legacy Society events.
Officer-in-Training Development:
- Participate in a formal mentorship process with the Director of Planned Giving.
- Gain working knowledge of charitable gift vehicles such as bequests, charitable trusts, and gift annuities.
- Shadow donor and advisor meetings to learn donor cultivation and stewardship techniques.
- Attend conferences, webinars, and internal training to build skills in planned giving and donor engagement.
- Progressively take on donor engagement responsibilities under supervision as experience grows.
Stewardship & Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Assist in Legacy Society donor stewardship, recognition, and event engagement.
- Work in partnership with the broader Philanthropy team to integrate planned giving into overall fundraising strategies.
- Communicate with legal and financial advisors when needed to support gift processing and compliance.
General Administrative Duties:
- Draft and review correspondence, proposals, donor agreements, and reports.
- Maintain organized records, files, and digital systems related to planned giving operations.
- Support other special projects and tasks as directed by the Director of Planned Giving.
- Conduct other tasks and projects assigned by the Director of Planned Giving.
- Commitment to URM (Union Rescue Mission) mission, vision, and core values.
- Encourage guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.

- Manual dexterity required for reaching, lifting objects, and operating office equipment.
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Office-based role in Downtown Los Angeles with occasional travel for meetings and events.
- Some evening and weekend work, required.
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs.

Requirements
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications) or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in administrative support, nonprofit development, or donor services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Passion and commitment to growing into a Planned Giving Officer role.
- Familiarity with planned giving concepts is helpful but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital collaboration tools.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
