Role Summary
The Maintenance Planning role is the strategic mind behind our maintenance operations. The Maintenance Planning Specialist is a catalyst for operational improvement by transforming how we approach maintenance through the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodology. The Maintenance Planning Specialist is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of equipment through meticulous planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance activities. This role leverages a Customer First Mindset and TPM methodology to minimize downtime and optimize resources. Additional responsibilities of the Maintenance Planning Specialist include Project Coordination, Assets and Spare Parts Management, Engaging in Continuous Improvement Activities, and Growing the TPM Culture.

 

Essential Functions

Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive maintenance schedules for all equipment to ensure optimal up time using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and TPM Methodology
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with a Customer First Mindset by working with production stakeholders to minimize downtime
  • Analyze equipment history to Seek Truth and optimize maintenance intervals
  • Prioritize work orders based on criticality, safety, and production impact to best utilize limited resources and Get It Done with Speed
  • Prepare technicians to Finish Strong by preparing resources for maintenance tasks by staging required materials and tools

Project Coordination

  • Lead improvement projects from conception through completion to ensure Quality results
  • Collaborate with various Department Leaders, Suppliers, and Contractors to manage project timelines and allocate resources to ensure the team Finishes Strong

Assets and Spare Parts Management and Control

  • Develop and Manage spare parts data and inventory using inventory control procedures to maintain optimal spares
  • Issue Purchase Orders to purchase needed materials and ensure availability of critical spare parts
  • Analyze inventory usage patterns to establish optimal min/max levels and maintain records of parts consumption using the CMMS
  • Maintain asset data and manuals using CMMS

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate maintenance planning and preventive measures to identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance machine reliability through the TPM process
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans to foster the TPM culture of preventive maintenance and continuous improvement
  • Implement best practices and standardize maintenance procedures to ensure consistency and Quality through the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for maintenance operations
  • Collaborate with Department Leaders through Kaizen events to ensure timely implementation of improvements

  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience in a manufacturing environment; experience using or able to become proficient in a CMMS system. Knowledge of Olympia products is a plus. 

 

Work Environment
The employee will work partially in an environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and may encounter other industrial hazards. Wearing protective gear like gloves, protective arm sleeves, safety glasses and safety-toed shoes is essential. In addition, the employee will also work in an office environment, requiring extended periods of computer use. This includes data entry, scheduling, and using CMMS.

 

Physical Demands
The employee may need to walk around the facility speak with team members, assess work, and monitor ongoing maintenance tasks. Good vision is crucial. Hearing is important for understanding communication and being aware of surroundings. The job can be mentally demanding with the need to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with various departments under tight deadlines. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, normally Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required occasionally.

 

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • 1-5 years of experience of increasingly responsible roles within an industrial environment required. Maintenance Planning (or similar) experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude; basic understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical equipment preferred
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to achieving company goals by focusing on quality, safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, CMMS, and willing to learn other software applications).
