Summary/Objective
The role of the Sr. Quality Engineer is to drive excellence into the product quality and quality processes at RBS though robust quality control inspection processes and effective collaboration with operations. The Quality Engineer will leverage their expertise by fostering a culture of quality in all aspects of the product lifecycle. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.

- Perform supplier quality management by collaborating with suppliers to assess and improve their quality systems.
- Training and development by mentoring and training the QC team, as well as operations associates on the QMS process and general metrology skill sets.
- Works with RBS 3rd party CMM programming services and oversees the development of efficient CMM part programs and validation.
- Evaluate and recommend improvement opportunities of existing CMM programs to reduce run time and improve inspection results reporting.
- Instructs and trains manufacturing personnel on how to properly interpret CMM inspection reports to improve machine utilization, product quality, and production throughput.
- Maintains Gauge Calibration program ensuring gages are calibrated on time and the appropriate frequencies are established to maximize effectiveness while driving associated costs down.
- Drives product quality improvement conducting investigations of defective products to determine root causes and the development of corrective actions. Actively maintains RBS RGA and CAR databases.
- Participates in the development of APQP processes, PPAP’s and metrological qualification to improve first time pass.
- Support quality management with compliance to the company’s ISO 9001:2020 quality system through internal audits and promote continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Create and/or update RBS QMS documentation when required.
- Support Quality Management with review of non-conformance/scrap data. Present findings to MRB for dispositioning actions.
- Any/all other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds and seldom lifting to 75lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The standard working hours for exempt employees are set at 45 hours per week with an additional 30-minute lunch break each day. General business hours are 6:30 am- 5:00 pm. this position follows a specific work schedule of Monday through Friday 7:00 am- 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Compensation
Our current hiring pay range for this position is $70,000- $90,000. This hiring pay range is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills and certifications.
In addition to this base pay, Rockford Ball Screw employees are eligible for a bonus. Depending on your position you may be categorized into different tiers in the quarterly or annual bonus plan. Currently, this position is classified as a Quarterly Bonus within the Individual Contributor tier.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Associate's Degree in Quality Assurance or a related industrial program or significant relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience within quality control in a manufacturing environment practicing ISO 9001.
- Demonstrated proficiency utilizing metrology/inspection tools, experience with calibration systems.
- 5+ years of experience with CMM operation serving as the SME (Zeiss hardware and/or Calypso Software preferred).
- Intermediate level of computer literacy, specifically Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, gages, etc.
- Ability to read/write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance or a related industrial program.
- Certification in metal trades industry or Quality Control.
- Maintenance of Gage Calibration.
- Control of monitoring and measuring devices.
- Ability to interpret blueprints with a strong knowledge of GD&T principles and inspection methods.
- Understanding and application of SPC techniques.
