Description
We are a consulting engineering firm that specializes in providing a full range of surveying, engineering, and project management services to the electric utility industry. We are currently looking for a qualified Survey Technician, Distribution Technician, and Fiber Make Ready Technician to join our team. Prior field experience on survey crews, distribution staking, and fiber make ready especially in the role of party chief, is preferred.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with survey party in support of company's engineering practices and property work.
- Work on distribution staking and fiber make ready projects
- Conduct land records research to obtain maps, plans, plats, deeds, and all necessary documents for field surveys.
- Process survey data and prepare base drawings as needed.
- Drone Lidar data collection and Lidar data classification
- Work with different Company departments, contractors’ vendors, and clients.
- Develop and maintain complete records of survey, distribution, fiber work performed, including time and expenses incurred.
Requirements
Position requirements include:
- Ability to review specifications with Engineering and/or Supervising Surveyor to prepare the best method for completing the field work in an efficient manner.
- Ability to operate independently in the field to accomplish survey and staking functions.
- The ability to effectively interface with clients, contractors, and property owners.
- Completion of Survey Technology curriculum preferred.
- Prior experience as a Survey Party Chief / Technician preferred.
- Prior experience in boundary, property, and topographic surveying as well as construction staking preferred.
- Drone Lidar data collection and Lidar data classification preferred
- Prior experience with COGO, and survey software preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
- Extensive travel outside Wake County
- Valid N.C. Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma minimum, Associate Degree in Applied Sciences – Geomatics Technology preferred.
