About the Position
This is entry-level professional programmer/systems analyst work. Incumbents are responsible for design, development and implementation of automated systems, and the formulation/integration/formatting of software packages and related hardware to satisfy user needs. Work is performed under the close supervision of a higher-level Programmer/Systems Analyst or other designated supervisor and evaluated in terms of technical adequacy and accuracy.
Upon the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, entry-level incumbents may be non-competitively promoted to the Level II full performance level after successfully completing the probationary period.

Position Duties
- Analyzes and evaluates crime trends to identify problem areas.
- Assists Departmental personnel and others with requests for statistical information.
- Designs and maintains statistical databases for users throughout the agency.
- Prepares reports and correspondence for dissemination.
- Prepares and presents geocoded products.
- Examines Geographical Information Systems (GIS) related requests from internal and external customers of the Departments to determine requirements and data sources.
- Maintains liaisons with other crime analysts and meets with officers to determine specific crime analysis needs.
- Answers telephones and responds to emails in a professional and courteous manner.
- Works in partnership with internal and external customers to assist in finding resolutions to immediate problems.
- Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties not specifically listed in the position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the class of work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or business administration
- Six (6) months experience in data processing
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive working knowledge of computer systems and software applications such as the Records Management System (RMS), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other data sources.
Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) data queries
Proficient experience using GIS

Conditions of Employment: Upon selection, the candidate must:
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Be willing to work assigned shift work (days/evenings/weekends/holidays)
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
- Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable.
- Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable.
- Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave
