Position Summary:

The Tool Crib Supervisor is responsible for tool crib and the MRO items.   Emphasis is on cost-effective utilization of materials and supplies. Manages activities of those engaged in the management, storage, and inventory control activities in tool crib.  Manage all services for the site.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage tool crib personnel 
  • Provide work assignments, execute schedules, respond to changes, procure parts.
  • Ensure that workplace safety and housekeeping is maintained at acceptable levels at all times.  
  • Develop and implement effective, permanent corrective actions.   
  • Verify and approve employees’ working time utilizing Kronos System.  
  • Manage levels and accuracy of inventory, along with outside suppliers to achieve high on time delivery performance and material flow efficiency. 
  • Provide appropriate equipment to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials.  
  • Provide a safe work environment that is free from recognized hazards that cause or are likely to cause physical harm to our employees, take corrective actions to eliminate recognized hazards, and hold accountable employees for actions required to comply with our safe practices, policies, and procedures. 
  • Maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations and through knowledge of policies where applicable. Recognize and inform higher supervision of hourly employees' capabilities. 
  • Manage services such as fork-lifts, outside PM and pallets.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Nature & Scope:

  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a support, production or operations team
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion
  • Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager
  • Accountable for the support or production operations team including subordinate work leaders
  • Typically does not spend more than 20% of one's time performing the work supervised

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of materials/warehouse inventory best practices and procedures 
  • Working knowledge with warehouse management systems 
  • Working knowledge of 5S, Lean and Kaizen methodologies and best practices 
  • Prior working knowledge of MAPICS and Kronos is preferred  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel and Word 
  • Effective team development and project supervision and delegation skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention and effective problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to safely operate industrial powered lift equipment (Forklift, Reach truck, Overhead Crane)
  • Good analytical ability and ability to follow up required 
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.

Experience:

  • 5 years of prior lead/supervisor work experience in a receiving, materials, or warehouse capacity  
  • 5 plus years of experience in a high volume, multi-shift manufacturing production environment

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • College degree is preferred.

People Management: Yes

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. 
  • Some lifting (up to 20 lbs.).
  • Long hours on a computer keyboard. 
  • Standing, walking, bending, stooping, etc. to move, view and transfer product.
