Position Overview


The Online Community Facilitator fosters meaningful connections and engagement among our networks of educators, volunteers, and advisors. This role ensures that members feel valued, supported, and inspired to stay involved in The Tech Interactive programming year-round. The role works closely with counterparts from learning products, R&D, product marketing, partnership success, and operations to ensure products are continually improving and responsive to our community’s needs. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and community builder who understands how to spark dialogue, highlight member contributions, support our community members in becoming brand ambassadors, and can create an inclusive, vibrant online environment. This exempt role reports to the Senior Director of Learning Products.


Responsibilities 

  • Community Engagement
    • Actively facilitate discussions, events, and activities to encourage participation across educator, volunteer, and advisor communities
    • Create welcoming spaces where members feel connected, recognized, and empowered to contribute
    • Develop and share engaging content tailored to community needs
  • Relationship Building
    • Build strong relationships with community members, recognizing and celebrating their contributions
    • Act as a connector–linking members with shared interests, expertise, or goals
    • Serve as a point of contact for questions, feedback, and support
  • Programming and Events
    • Plan and host virtual events (webinars, workshops, networking sessions) that bring the community together
    • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to co-create opportunities for member involvement
    • Promote opportunities for collaboration, mentoring, and peer-to-peer learning
  • Community Operations
    • Monitor community platforms daily, ensuring conversations remain active, inclusive, and aligned to community guidelines
    • Collect and analyze engagement data to inform improvements and report on community health
    • Implement strategies to onboard, retain, and re-engage members throughout the year


Requirements and Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in community management, facilitation, or program coordination (online community experience preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including educators, volunteers, and advisors
  • Comfortable with digital platforms (e.g., Slack, Discord, Mighty Networks, or similar tools)
  • Experience hosting virtual events and fostering interactive discussions
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to balance multiple priorities
  • Passion for building inclusive, mission-driven communities across global contexts 



Working Conditions and Schedule

  • Schedule includes weekend and evening work as programmatic and organizational business needs require.
  • This is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
