Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment, the Director of Admissions will lead the development and implementation of an innovative, relationship-driven, data-informed recruitment strategy designed to strengthen enrollment, shape a mission-fit incoming class, and advance Bethany’s vision for the future.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and inspire a team of admissions counselors and student ambassadors in the recruitment of first-year, transfer, and international students.
  2. Develop and implement territory management plans that align with institutional goals and respond to shifting market and demographic trends.
  3. Oversee the application process, including review, decision policy, and coordination with academic and student support partners and external service providers.
  4. Collaborate closely with Financial Aid, Athletics, Marketing, Academic Affairs, and key external partners in enrollment management to ensure a seamless and student-centered enrollment experience.
  5. Design and deliver impactful campus visit programs, virtual events, and yield strategies that reflect the college’s warm, relational culture.
  6. Analyze enrollment data and CRM insights (experience with Slate preferred) to guide decision-making and measure impact.
  7. Represent Bethany College to prospective students, families, school counselors, and community organizations with authenticity, enthusiasm, and integrity.
  8. Partner in advancing Bethany’s mission to educate students “to live fulfilling lives, inspired by faith and love of learning.”

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  2. At least five years of progressive experience in admissions, enrollment, or related areas, preferably at a small private or faith-based institution.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build cross-campus collaboration, and manage complex projects successfully with creativity and clarity.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the critical links among recruitment, retention, academic programs, and financial sustainability, especially in the context of a small private liberal arts college.
  5. Demonstrated experience with leading through positive change in an admissions office – flexible, data-informed, positive, team-focused, entrepreneurial, with a heart for service for students, families, and the college.
  6. Strong skills in data analysis, enrollment trends, and CRM use (Slate experience preferred).
  7. Appreciation for the mission of Lutheran higher education and a belief in the value of the liberal arts for students and society.
  8. Excellent communication skills and a relational approach to leadership and recruitment.
  9. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  10. Experience with recruiting international students, immigration, and student visas is a plus.
  11. Experience with recruiting non-traditional students, transfer students, and first-gen students is a plus.
