Position Title: Senior Accountant, Business Operations

SUMMARY/FUNCTION: Coordination of finance functions of business office including, but not limited to, general accounting and payroll reconciling and reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. The following duties are examples of assignments performed by incumbents in this classification. It is not a totally comprehensive list of duties, nor is it restrictive regarding job assignments.
- Analyzes and approves all journal entries, budget transfers, and various other accounting transactions.
- Prepares all bank reconciliations for approval.
- Processes and analyzes all journal entry uploads to include Procurement Card Payments, Substitute Contract Payments, and USDA reimbursements.
- Assists in providing training and support to all Bookkeepers.
- Maintains Business Procedures Manual and updates as needed.
- Reviews account transactions monthly for accuracy. Prepares and processes adjusting entries as needed.
- Maintains budgets and claims federal funds in GAPS.
- Reconciles insurance monthly
- Assists with the Annual Audit.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business management, or an Associate’s Degree with five to seven years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Governmental finance experience required, school finance experience preferred. Certified School Business Official recommended.
Knowledge:
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and good working knowledge of Business English and grammar. Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and operations. Working knowledge of the principles of office management and of modern office procedures. Knowledge of the records and forms to be prepared and maintained.
Skills/Effort:
Exceptional proficiency with technology skills, i.e., websites, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and telephone skills. Ability to interpret and apply detailed oral and written instructions. Team player who works well with others.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively using Standard English before groups of employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to pass a basic skills test and technology proficiency test. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
Working Conditions:
Conducts duties in an office environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention, and meeting deadlines. Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 10 pounds. No travel is required. The job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
