WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Retirement Plan Administrator will be responsible for the administration of a variety of qualified retirement plans including 401(k), 403(b), Profit Sharing and Cash Balance and Defined Benefit Plans. The individual in this role leads plan design discussions, provides expert guidance, and delivers proactive, value-added services to enhance client satisfaction and optimize retirement plan outcomes.  The Retirement Plan Administrator is a strategic partner to clients, ensuring compliance and operational excellence in all aspects of qualified retirement plan management.

A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR DAY

  • Cultivates strategic business relationships with clients, providing expert insights into retirement plan objectives while managing expectations and service commitments.
  • Provides comprehensive plan administration, including eligibility determination, recordkeeping, annual valuations, contributions, distributions, and participant loan documentation.
  • Leads plan specification and design of plan documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all retirement plan types.
  • Oversees the preparation of plan documents for all retirement plan types.
  • Manages all aspects of plan administration, including determination of eligibility, employee recordkeeping, performance of annual valuations, the calculation of contributions and distributions, preparation of distribution documentation, and preparation of participant loan documents.
  • Conduct compliance testing on 401(k, 403(b) and Profit Sharing Plans; preparation of government forms and handling large plan accountants audits.
  • Provides calculation of benefit and contribution maximums, develops plan proposals, identify and resolves issues, and facilitates effective communication at both client and employee level communications.
  • Oversees retirement plan enrollment initiatives, developing and delivering educational sessions and presentation materials on qualified retirement plans.
  • Resolves complex client service issues and facilitates effective communication at both client and employee levels.
  • Manages pricing verification, resolves accounting discrepancies, and ensures compliance with documentation standards and regulations.
  • Maintains rigorous regulatory compliance.
  • Oversees electronic database management and strategic review of plan completion reports, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Leads team-based initiatives to set and achieve departmental goals, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Performs other projects, duties, and tasks, as assigned.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retirement plan account management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing various types of retirement plans, such as defined contribution plans, 403(b), Profit Sharing and 401(a).
  • Relevant designations through ASPPA or NIPA, such as QPA, QKA or APA required.
  • Expert working knowledge related to benefit and/or retirement plans, including concepts like deferrals, contributions, distributions, and loans.
  • Proficient knowledge of recordkeepers’ functionality.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills including advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of employee retirement benefit plans.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications, such as online retirement enrollment programs and carrier enrollment sites.
  • Expert knowledge of federal and state legal and tax considerations including ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations as they pertain to retirement plans.
