Functions

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform daily onboard ship checks to document project progress.
  • Completion of supply requisition orders.
  • Preparation and distribution of project status reports.
  • Collect and compile daily time and material sheets for reconciliation.
  • Work closely with the Payroll and Accounting departments to resolve reporting discrepancies.
  • Produce daily cumulative reports.
  • Obtain signoffs from vessel owners and vendors.
  • Research and analysis functions may include tracking and forecasting, project evaluation and monitoring, maintaining compliance with government regulations, and performing any data analysis relevant to project tasks.
  • Maintain communication with suppliers.
  • Request quotes for scope of supply.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies during the construction of the vessel.
  • Arrange virtual and in-person meetings with management, vendors, and vessel representatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence required; construction experience required; shipyard/vessel construction experience is desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Ability to read and understand construction drawings required. basic accounting and administrative experience or similar required. Knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations is desired.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience required, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Working Conditions

  • The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, continual loud noise, and other hazards found in a heavy industrial shipyard environment.
  • Rigorous compliance with safety procedures, policies, and personal safety equipment requirements is therefore mandatory.

Physical Activity/Requirements

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be
    met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard/construction areas.
  • The employee must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with production craftsmen, management, and customer representatives.
