Position Description

Performs work to assist in the organization and implementation of projects and programs. Responsibilities include activities which require knowledge of departmental procedures. Employee performance is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Research, draft, and edit content for internal announcements, newsletters, and other internal communication channels.
  • Write feature stories, profiles, and news articles for the university magazine and/or Daily Dose.
  • Assist in developing messaging that aligns with the university’s voice and values.
  • Conduct interviews with faculty, staff, students, and alumni as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to brainstorm and pitch story ideas.
  • Support the editorial calendar and track project progress and deadlines.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning efforts.
  • Assist with basic administrative or project-based tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (preferably in communications, journalism, English, marketing, or a related field).
  • Knowledge of AP Style is preferred.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or web content platforms is a plus, attained via schooling or work experience.
