The Principal Logistics Program Manager will lead and enhance our worldwide logistics operations while ensuring adherence to international trade and regulatory compliance requirements. The role’s primary focus is to ensure cost-effective, on-time delivery and optimal network performance leveraging CMT’s network of global transportation and 3PL partners. This position will own end-to-end supply chain logistics and will interface with freight forwarders, custom brokers, third party logistics providers (3PLs) and external customers on all matters pertaining to shipments, customs, import and export regulations, distribution, and reverse logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution for CMT’s global customer base
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize cost, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
- Coordinate with supply chain, finance and customer-facing teams to meet delivery targets
- Manage relationships with multiple external logistics partners, including freight forwarders, customs brokers and transportation management service providers.
- Implement and manage visibility tools and reports to monitor and improve transportation service performance and spend.
- Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the trade control infrastructure covering operational processes, export licensing/classification, trade documentation, and trade identification/disclosures for import, export and customs.
- Support the development and refinement of procedures for trade compliance programs as well as ensuring corrective action processes are in place to comply with global import and export regulations.
- Manage 3PL relationships across multiple global warehouse locations, including performance monitoring and operational readiness for new product launches.
- Oversee KPIs and SLAs for inventory accuracy, on-time shipping, receiving, returns, and storage costs.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and lead strategic alignment with 3PL providers.
- Collaborate with IT and Engineering teams to ensure WMS integrations, data visibility, and reporting tools are functional and effective.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in freight, logistics and/or materials management
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with U.S. export/import regulations and global trade compliance
- Experience working with brokers, freight forwarders, drayage/truckers, and import/export, including experience negotiating freight forwarder and carrier agreements.
- Experience working within a NetSuite environment a plus.
- Utilizes strong analytical, interpersonal, and written/verbal skills to evaluate data, make operational recommendations and decisions, and communicate requirements with tact and transparency to build commitment and cohesion.
- Ability to build strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system – NetSuite experience
- CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system - Salesforce.com experience
- Understanding of Class 9 shipping guidelines for Lithium batteries
