Job Overview
The Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller position will assist in all financial activities within the accounting department of a construction company. The activities include but are not limited to posting daily cash activity through multiple bank accounts, AP, AR, managing processes to ensure tracking of field phones, tablets, asset tracking of construction equipment, credit card posting expense process, and overall financial compliance. This role is a crucial part to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, and a deep understanding of the construction industry.
Qualifications
- · Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting, or a related field.
- · 5-7 years of experience in construction accounting.
- · Strong knowledge of month end and yearend financial statement processes.
- · Proven experience in assisting with managing a diverse team.
- · Proficiency in financial software and tools, with experience in construction-specific financial management job cost systems, such as Sage, Timberline, Yardi.

- · Assist the CFO in developing and implementing financial strategies to support the company’s goals and objectives.
- · Oversee & assist with the AR & AP departments processes and procedures to ensure proper cross-training and coverage.
- · Assist with daily monitoring of cash flow, weekly processing of company check runs.
- · Assist with job cost implementation & analysis.
- · Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and control.
- · Assist with GL account analysis in preparation for month end close as well as the annual audit process while.
- · Manage fixed asset schedules that tracks owned/rented heavy equipment.
- · Assist with complex general ledgers, identifying missing transactions and trends to ensure overall accuracy.
- · Guide the review and approval of account classifications.
- · Review balance sheets for accuracy and facilitate follow up.
- · Coordinate project tasks to ensure efficient client workflow.
- · Prepare and/or review the initial draft of monthly reporting packages.
- · Assist with finalizing month-end close.
- · Prepare and/or review work papers and schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- · Participate in cross-collaboration with other teams/service lines as applicable.
- · Assist in the development of best practices.
