Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and families? Do you have the skills to provide crucial support to kinship and adoptive families with young children?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kinship and Adoption Advice and Guidance Officer & Early Years Education to join our vibrant and supportive team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in ensuring that children in our community have the best possible start in life, whether they are in the care of their kinship family or their own parents.
You will be instrumental in delivering targeted support, building strong relationships with families, and collaborating with a range of professionals to create a network of care and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Kinship and Adoption Support:
- Provide advice and guidance to kinship/adoptive carers.
- Facilitate peer support groups and workshops for kinship and adoptive carers.
- Act as a key point of contact for kinship and adoptive families, signposting them to relevant services (legal, financial, emotional support).
- Act as a reference point for schools on kinship duties, advice and guidance.
- Help develop and coordinate a comprehensive local offer for kinship and adoptive carers.
- Support around the process of children moving from Cared for to SGO status.
- Support schools in effective use of PP+ for post cared for children.
- Early Years Support:
- Work with families of children aged 0-5, offering early intervention and preventative support.
- Home visits and family support sessions to assess needs and provide practical help.
- Promote positive parenting techniques and child development.
- Support families to access early years education, health services, and community resources.
- Attend and support PEPs and use of EYPP.
- Partnership Working:
- Collaborate closely with social workers, SGO team, health visitors, schools, nurseries, and voluntary sector organisations.
- Contribute to multi-agency meetings and case discussions to ensure a holistic approach to family support.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all family interactions and interventions.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of the current educational landscape both locally and nationally for Early Years settings as well as for children of statutory school age.
- Knowledge of the latest version of the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping children safe in education’.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience of working with a range of IT software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet Explorer.
- Experience of working within a team.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment.
- Educated to GCSE O Level (level 2) or equivalent in Maths and English.
